Internet Explorer 8.1

Hello,
since down loading Internet Explorer 8.1 I have been having nothing but troubles with it. I'm running XP on my system and was told Explorer 8.1 is for Vista and is not compatible with XP.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 8.0
