Hi,
|
HP's pop-up window stated that my DV6663US (Vista Ultimate 64) laptop needed a bios update. I foolishly believed them, followed the instructions and installed the update, which destroyed the laptop. The laptop was working, but now nothing works and HP says they aren't responsible because it is out of warranty, but for the price of a new laptop, they will install a new motherboard. WARNING: Do NOT take HP's statements at face value. HP may have needed to destroy my laptop in order to inspire me to buy a new laptop, but it won't be an HP. |
Hello Friends,
|
Finally i found someone else with my problem, i got a HP pavilion dv6700 with nvidia graphics and windows vista. It worked fine until today when it just wouldnt show me crap on the screen, ive tried searching for it on this forum but all i found was press ctrl+alt+delete and do lotsa stuff... BUT HOW THE H£LL can i do that when i cant see anything and the computer wont even respond to anything else than the power button? The fan is going and all the stuff on my keyboard is lighting up like it should, but the screen is jsut like it was before i turned on the computer. I guess its my graphics card thats against me on this one. Theres obviously no warranty on it and i dont want to buy a new graphic card when i dont even know if thats the problem.

After paying around 80US$ Yesterday evening I got my laptop from the mechanic, He advice me to leave the laptop on for at least 4 hours, I leave it on from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM but all you will be surprised, my laptop became so hot like an Owen, I switch on the a.c to make it cool and it takes more than 1 hours to come to the normal temp, when I move mouse nothing happen when I press keys no moments found, Then I realize my lappy was freeze, I immediately switch it off by removing power plug and battery. The repairing guy told me that he has changes an Nvidia chip now laptop should work fine but nothing is fine everything is worst, I again have to go to him my laptop still has the same problem and now heating problem too. I don't know what is going to happen with my lappy. HP IS WORST COMPANY IN WHOLE UNIVERSE, THEY SELL JUNK, GARBAGE products around the world, NEVER BUY AN HP PRODUCT, BY BUYING IT YOU ARE KILLING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.............................................................................................................................. I DON'T THINK MY HP LAPTOP DV2000 WILL EVER WORK LIKE BEFORE, I HAVE TO BUY NEW ONE.................. BUT I WONT LEAVE THE COMPANY LIKE THIS I WILL CLAIM MY FUNDS, WE ALL HAVE TO TALK WITH H/P FOR REFUNDING OUR FUNDS FOR REPLACE OUR DEFECTIVE PIECES WITH NEW ONCES....................................................................................

I'm using a hp pavilion dv6449us model and it is having the same problem. When I turn on the leds glow normally but the screen is black. I don't even hear a sound . When I contacted the cust care initially they told me to remove and put the battery back and that didn't work and they asked me to turn off and on again and press the F10 button so the laptop will goto BIOS mode.. but it didn't go... Finally he said it is due to HD problem if the laptop is not going into BIOS mode and has asked me to contact the service center in India.... Can some one confirm if its really a HD problem. I don't want to loose the data I have in my HD.

The problem "most" of you are having is due to overheating of the GPU, witch would explain the reason for it booting when it wants, and then finally not booting at all once its detached itself from the board, Here is a video to rig it up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctHTF3oNdxI but I must say this is VERY temporary solution I would try to fix it temporary and then sell it off as parts but please warn the person you sell it to, do not be a looser and sell someone a broken ass laptop like HP seems to be doing now. |
Where do I find my laptop version? I have HP Windows Ultimate.

The HP DV series laptops and some others have known motherboard issues and if you are lucky and have an affected model they will replace the motherboard free of charge but only HP can tell you if your model is affected by this. If not the laptop board for the DV series runs from 169.00 to 249.00 depending on your model |
For DV2000 Laptop please contact HP - they have a recall going on. They will replace the motherboard for free. I told my friend and he got his done. Believe me on this.
