I have a problem with my firefox in ubuntu

Hello,
I have a problem with my Firefox 3. it freezes sometimes and when i want to write something in my terminal i can not write anything and i get this message " There was a problem with the command for this terminal: Text was empty (or contained only whitespace) ". I also tried to get adobe flash player 10 since i think it stated to when i used mysapce or something like that and some one saied something about this and i installed file:///media/Data/ubuntu/downlad%20/try/Get64bitJava this but when i double click on it and try to make it run in the terminal i get window with sudo password paul and i can not put my password so it will close the window
Can someone pls help me i have only been using ubuntu for like a week or less and i have no clue about stuff there so if u write me back pls replay in a matter that i can understand what u are talking about so pls write like click this then this and then go to and click pls write very explicit
