I have a toshiba 3.0, windows 7.

When connected it loads for hours but won't open or show. It stops after loading and whenever I open disk management it won't responds and comes back only if I disconnect the hard disk. The light keeps flashing real fast.

I tried tutorials on how to fix this but before that it will only hang. I tried command prompt, disk management, it doesn't have any yellow warning in device manager, tried switching all usb ports but no luck. My laptop won't allow me to change it's partition or letter assign which is I don't know.

What should I do? It contains important files, it's not even half full. I hope someone can help me thank you!

Hello michi1004,

Have you tried to extract your data by using Linux Life CD?
You could try using the chkdsk X: /r command , where X is the name of the letter you must put for your hard drive.
When talking about connection, have you tried connecting it through another USB cable? Sometimes where there's not enough power supply the drive can't spin up therefore cannot be accessed.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the responds but it turn out to be that the hard drive isn't mine and luckily mines fine and working. Now I really shouldn't be complacent in a 1 back up!
