Monitor goes to sleep after turning on pc

Hello, can somebody help me.. i juz bought a 2nd hand cpu.. when i connect it to my monitor and turn it on.. the monitor goes to sleep.. pls help me.. what do i do?

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hi,
try to clear your CMOS setting.
this is found on the motherboard, it is a dry cell, locate it.
remove your computer from mains supply before you open the casing.
remove the battery anf search for the CMOS jumper, short it for about five seconds, replace the bettery and boot your computer.
this should fix your problem.

Hello All................
I have the similar problem..........
My computer L.G monitor is black on start up and if come up after window xp start and 3/4 times monitor power button switch on / off manually.............

is any one know solution for it..............

I do following things but can't work.....
1) remove Cmos battery, RAM and again connect it....
2) Reinstall XP.............by Formating C drive (not update XP)
3) unplug monitor and plug it...
