Xbox 360 connection to laptop

Hello,
i have a wireless router downstairs and my xbox 360 upstairs along with a laptop.the laptop allows me to go on the web yet when i connect it to the xbox it doesnt even recognise that the console has been plugged in,can you please tell me how to resolve this problem so that i can get on xbox live.thank you

You just have to take a cable plugged it in to your laptop and the otherside in to your xbox 360.Then u go to start on your laptop and select control panel then click network and internet connections then click network and sharing center then click manage network connections.HOPE IT HELPS YOU CAUSE IT HELP ME.
