Nokia n70 and e 65

Hello,
I have tried down loading and via cd down loaded the Nokia n 70 guid suite but when I plug the phon in it says no phone connected it use to work so I uninstalled everything reinstalled and still it says no phone connected, I have tried different ports and cables as I have two phones I want to back up all my contacts. Also when I click on which phone in the pop up there is no phones there ist blank?
What I am I doing wrong.
Please help.
