You can try an alternate way to copy your files if copy and paste doesn't work. Right click on any file or folders on computer and choose 'Removable Disk' located under 'Send to' option. This will directly transfer the targeted files to the removable drive.
If that didn't help either, consider formatting the drive first using complete or full formatting option. Hopefully, you'll be able to transfer your files without any fear.
