Hello,

I have ACER ASPIRE ONE ZG5 notebook
It has Windows XP russian version on it and is very very laggy
I want to reinstal Windows,
I have made a bootable USB-flash,
The instalation starts, then computer restarts and it shows blue screen
It asks to

When I choose "set up" it sais
- Setup cannot find a CD-ROM drive

The problem is that I DONT HAVE A CD-ROM :(
I have tried different boot options, nothing helped

I have read in other posts "Choose the ATA instead of AHCI on the SATA configuration"
But I dont have such an option in my bios

Should I upgrade BIOS or use a portable CD-ROM?
Or maybe there is some different solution?

thanks in advance :)

Hello

Making a bootable pen drive was not a good idea in your case.

Perhaps you should take a look at this Kioskea "How-to "

https://ccm.net/faq/2040-acer-pc-restore-to-factory-settings

Good luck

"Restore factory settings" is it like formating?

wikipedia sais that OS will stay, but I want to change it

and if I delete everything + OS (if its possible), I dont have the guarantee that I can boot up a new windows, because of previous discussion

---
i have Windows 7 on my computer, last week did Windows cleaning with the same flash (but with win7), it took me about 25-30 min to do everything and no problem

the ACER is my friends notebook, its HDD is 7,5GB :D
so the only normal OS it can take is XP
is it possible that the problems are because microsoft stopped support for WInXP, or it shouldnt affect it
