Hello,

I have been browsing these forums for a little while and must say it looks like you have a lot of great supportive members. With that said I'm hoping to get help with my problem. I recently moved to a new home and xfered Comcast service from the old home to the new home. On arrival I thought the internet was going to be better because Comcast said it was a faster zone and it seems like it on my Dads computer but myn is dead slow, No idea why... It was working great before we moved, all the cables are plugged in correctly and I have no idea what the problem is. I have ran malware tests and can confirm it is not that, I've taken all Windows Updates and updated firmware and it still hasnt helped. I'm using the Linksys Wireless G Router Model # WRT54G

My speed test from speedtest.net is:
Download: 2858
Upload: 2600

While my Dads is over 12000+

What is the problem? And how can I fix it? All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Hi,

Also, if you're running vista (Heaven forbid) try looking in your internet properties and disabling IPV6 there's currently no current use for it and all it does is slow down your connection. there's a way in cmd promt to delete it completely, but this should help for now.

Also, Comcast is nototious for not replacing old lines, depending on where you're at in town you could be getting 1 mbps - 6 if they're using old RG59 cable, or... even Quad...
