Hello,
Having purchased my HP Pavilion Entertainment DV6500 in December 07 it suddenly went blank while in use. Following HP recommendations, checked the power sources. Battery and AC both working fine. No problem with power going to unit. Reset the RAM, still nothing on screen. No alarms, no warnings - just blank and therefore useless. The supplier, Noel Leemings, denies any responsibility saying the HP Warranty has expired. Online it appears that in November 2007 HP identified this problem in models with same devices and an extended warranty was issued. The supplier knowingly sold me this dodgey unit and now the HP Helpdesk in India advises my laptop is not covered under the extended Warranty offered on similar models because not enough customers have complained. PLEASE, PLEASE start complaining to HP. Meanwhile, can anyone recommend a reliable, quality product I could purchase replace this HP one.

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Sick of hp6500, on May 18, 2009 5:09:22 pm BST

I have the same computer dv6500. Have the same problem with my computer the screen is blank. My computer is getting power but will not turn on. Contacted hp months' ago they wouldn't even talk to me said my warranty was out. They would fix it for 400.00. Well I could buy a dell for alittle more than that. I think people should complain to the BBB.

My client has exactly the same problem too...I will contact HP to let them know that more and more people are complaining about the same issue. They HAVE to do something.

Out of interest, did anyone manage to get their issue resolved, either by replacing the board or via HP?

I have the same blank screen problem I managed to get intouch with hp today and they said the manufacturers of the faulty motherboard have not included the dv6500 in their list, so there is nothing they can do even though the customer service assistant admitted they have had a lot of complaints over the same thing.

My laptop has just had the same issue. It died while I was using it last week. I have been contacting HP too and have been told that it will cost about £250 to repair.

Is their anyone in the UK that can help get this issue resolved. It is clear that the DV6500 should also be added to the list as they too are clearly faulty.

Let me know if anyone is successful with getting their laptops fixed.

II have the same issue...I have tried everything including power drain method. DOesnt work: what i have understood so far is the laptop is stuck at card reader, doest advance from there. Thus the problem is with SD card reader, the firmware of the card reader is corrupt. I tried disconnecting the the card reader by opening up the laptop, but it was embedded on the motherboard. Any comments on that??

regards
