Hello,

I put XP Pro on my Acer Aspire X1700-U3700A (and it runs much better than with Vista).

Only trouble, the "video controller (VGA compatible)" has disappeared! (This is the description it gives in the device manager). I can play videos from my hard drive (taken on camera etc) and from the Internet, but not DVDs.

I tried download one from the Acer site, but they only have ones for Vista.

Any help you provide will be much appreciated. ( A kind person earlier helped with a similar problem with my audio device)

Thank you!

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

I had the same exact problem with my Toshiba Satellite A205-S4797. Looking at your product details your graphics card or graphics processor is NVIDIA GeForce G100. So basically find the driver for that card. I did that with mine yesterday, downloaded the driver and now it works fine. I think this link will work for you http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_186.18_whql.html
but if it doesn't, just google "NVIDIA GeForce G100 driver" and I'm sure you will find a link for it. Hope this helps.
