Hello
"remote printing capability" you mean print to a networked printer "The desktop system to which the printer (Epson All-in-One) is attached is also connected to the wireless router (Buffalo WHS-54G) via a LAN cable and runs Windows XP." The all-in-one has two lan connections from what you describe. Given this situation you would be advised to NOT share the printer from your pc and REMOVE the printer cable from the pc. Set it up according to the manual as a network printer. The advantage to setting it up as a network printer is printing is not dependant on the pc connected to the printer having to be on. But before you can do this you need to get networking working between the two pcs. Network wizard on XP is a good place to start |
I recently purchased an HP Office Jet 6400 printer with Wireless Capability. The printer actually has it's own IP address and can be accessed by any computer with vista. The issue is that if I try to set up the printer from an XP cpu, it always tells me that the address is invalid. The printer itself is not connected to any cpu, it is merely a stand alone printer which everyone in my office uses, so setting up a personal server on a computer and accessing it through there would be impossible. |
