I took my laptop to a computer driver specialist? He fixed it in 5 minutes? I'm glad I didn't throw it in the river? I did buy this for 2,000? That's insane? Thanks again? Oh by the way, didn't need a sound card? There is some kind of an issue with Gateway notebooks? There seems to be a lot of people who install new hard drives in Gateway notebooks that cant find the right drivers? Even on there site? Think my next laptop will NOT be this ever again? I even got those stupid HINGES falling off?? When I called them about it?, They told me its not there problem?? Thanks again, Lee

Your probably installing the wrong driver. make sure its the proper driver for your system. if that dont work try to download your driver again. sometimes it could be a bad download. EVERYONE CAN CHECK OUT MY YOU TUBE VIDEO ON INSTALLING AN HD AUDIO DRIVER. CLICK THE LINK BELOW....

After a reformat and fresh OS installation you need to install the motherboard chipset driver and the drivers of all devices you have (video card, tuner, wifi, etc.). Windows alone does not have specific drivers.

The drivers are typically in the driver CD that comes with a new PC or new motherboard. Separate devices like video card or TV tuner come with its own driver CD. If driver CD is gone, download the drivers from PC maker or motherboard maker's site.

To fix your sound. do asper , worked for me after 3 times loading windows and still silch. al the forums are crap you can spend money to by programms.
if you have a sound card cd
use yuor windows installation disc.start install you will get a promp update click yes,let window load ,after a while
you might get promted ( when windows is loading your devices ) "not windows approved " , you want to install, click yes. you will get prompted to insert you sound cd , do.
windows will load yor sound device.let windows finish loading .restart your computer if windows doesn,t.
turn your computerback on ,,you got sound.

try it you cant loose nothing
rghk

Hi All,

I have the exact same problem (for almost a year now). I owned a computer store for 15 years and this is the first time in 20 years that I have no idea how to fix this problem. I have spent countless hours over the last year confering with various forums, I have put three new sound cards (all with the same results), I upgraded my bios. I am truely at a loss. I can boot with a Linux CD and all is well. This confirms that this is not a hardware problem. Everything worked fine untill a hard drive crash. I bought a new hard drive and restored my drive image (Ghost Image). Everythng was restored and worked just fine. Three months later the new drive died and my backup image at that time was corrupt so I just started from scratch and installed XP Pro, and all of my programs and data ans OS updates. I have not had sound ever since. If anybody has any advise, I would be eternally grateful for a solution ?

With Kind Regards,
Max

Hello shubham,

U have to re-install ur sound car.
If u don't have the driver tell the brand and the model of ur computer. Or of ur MB if it's a no-brand one.

The main problem is with the Realtek HD audio driver that is being offered as an audio driver update. DO NOT get this software update as it conflicts with some components of the system.

I am also having the same problem no sound....
There's no solution for this because the laptop is basically designed to work in Vista environment, most probabaly WIN XP will not support your system's h/w but u still can access most of the function, except some of those like sound , Internet, sometimes even BLUETOOTH.....
