Game pad configuration

Hi. Ive recently set up an emulator on my laptop for old retro games but cant seem to get a pc gamepad to link to them through usb. The game pad works fine with pc games installed but not one the emulated games. Ive tried to configure in the emulator settings but it wont let me. Any ideas please....

Solved. Joy to key prog i tried first. Not great so got xpadder prog. Works a treat. ?
