It's called spam (the email equivalent of junk mail) and there's nothing you can do to stop it. You might be able to filter it out if Yahoo mail has a spam filter.
Any time you send an "unsubscribe" in response to spam, it won't unsubscribe you, it just notifies the sender that the message was received. Now they know it's a valid email address. It then goes on a list of confirmed valid email addresses. Those lists sell to other spammers for more money than lists of addresses that are not confirmed to be in use. By using the unsubscribe, you just guarantee you'll get even more spam. The only sure-fire way to stop getting spam is to change your email address (set up another account on Yahoo, for example) and keep that address private. Give it out only to those you want to get email from and never use the new address for anything you suspect might sell that address to spammers. |
