Well networking is based on servcies and protocols.
What is the server for?
Are you planning on having a domain, or just a workgroup?
THe six clients you speak of, how many users for each client?
I suggest a wired topology. SO you will need some cat5 or cat6 cable and jacks. Be certain to maintian the wire twists when you terminate the connectors!
Let us know where you are stuck, as building the complete network is way OUT OF THE SCOPE of this forum. Let us know where you are stuck.
You may not even need to build a lan, you may just need to hook into a router to surf.
