Is Rundll.exe a virus?

Hello,


I recently download AVG 8 free edition and did a complete scan. It says that rundll.exe in c:\windows\system32\rundll.exe is affected by virus ? Is it a false positive or is it really a virus.

My PC indeed has a problem, that I was unable to open any spyware program like AD-WARE or SPYBOOT, whenever i open them it closes immedietly and also my safe mode is not working please suggest whether it is safe to delete these file ?

Windows XP is the operating system updated with SP3 RC. I also have bitdefender total security 2008 which have not detected this as a virus. Ad ware 2007 installed, but it was not opening at all (problem stated above)

Exact error message from AVG

1. Potentially harmful program Logger.cwn ( C:\Windows\system32\rundll.exe ) 2. Found Registry Key with reference to infected rundll.exe (HKLM\software\microsoft\current version\run\user themes.

Rundll.exe is a process belonging to windows. However what I could find when I googled logger.exe (not.cwn) comes up as a keylogger program which is a nasty and may have infected rundll.exe. Did you try to fix it with avg? And did you run your scan in safe mode? Google for logger.exe and see if any info there is helpful. Good luck.

I had the same problem with a rundll error. it says "ifgggoro.dll" went missing and failed to load module. My pc stopped connecting to the internet after this happened... I use AVG free 8, it cleaned some trojan yesterday then this happened? Is there a way to fix this?

Hi there, rundll.exe is a file should be present on previous machines of windows not on XP. In Xp it has to be

rundll32.exe and similarly for any other common windows file like

regsvr32.exe---------------------------------------regsvr.ex­e is a virus if its in windows XP
winhlp32.exe--------------------------------------winhlp.exe­ is a virus.

well call me the dumb ass i wasnt paying attention and i deleted that file and i dont have the disk any more can any one mail me a copy of rundll.exe file please
