in "computer" right click on the drive pen click properties click the error checking tab let windows check it. if errors are fixed then you may be able to open the drive for use.
A good format tool for usb-pen drives is the "HP usb format tool" Google it for downloads
also plug in another usb device to check the usb port is operational. or check the usb ports in device manager.
