If you try and open a Zip file but get an error message like "Cannot open file: it does not appear to be a valid archive" or a similar error then you have probably got a corrupt Zip file - this is normally caused by a CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Checksum) error within the Zip archive.

There are some automated software tools that will repair corrupt zip file errors, effectively recreating an error free version of the file enabling you to recover files from within the corrupt Zip file. Information on repairing corrupt files can be found at http://www.repaircorruptfile.com and specific information on repairing corrupt zip files at http://www.corruptzip.com

Hope that helps.
