Unable to remove the present antivirus

Hello,i m unanle to install karpersky antivirus,when i m installing it is asking to remove the avg8,but i don hav avg8 in the control panel.i tried from the run option then regedit,but it dint work.n now m having another problem,my taskbar is not showing the present antivirus icon,not even the control panel,wen i tried to reinstall the previous antivirus quickheal,ts is asking to remove the present version,since i can't find it in the control panel nor in the regedit how do i remove it??

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Download "Add remove software" and install to your system then remove the antivirus.
