Hello,
my computer crashed after i downloaded a security software. i sent it to a friend to repair. he didn't repair it he just switch everything to another local disk. local disk drive j has no space but is working ok, just no room to download anything. local disk c has 90% of free space, which is the drive i was having problems with. instead of fixing the problem he just swithched it to the other local disk which has no space. how do i switch back to local disk c so i can download programs. i have a dell dimension E520. should i just purchase another computer?

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Didn't you learn from the first virus? You can still download to the C drive - just change the file location in your browser.

For Internet Explorer you will need to change the registry:

If you want your Internet Explorer downloads to be saved to the location you wish, then use this tweak to setup a default download directory for Internet Explorer. First create a folder on the E drive

Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe).
Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Then change the location under the string value Download Directory to the location you want your downloads to be stored by default.
Then close the registry editor & Reboot your PC

For Firefox:

go to TOOLS - OPTIONS - Main in the Firefox page
then DOWNLOADS and modify Save files to

Good Luck
