Linksys WRT54G as a Wireless Access Point

Hello,
I use a Linksys WRT110 as my main router (connected in the basement to Comcast Arris cable modem). I want to extend my wireless range on the 2nd floor in my home, so I bought a Linksys WRT54G to use as a wireless access point. I can open up the setup page for the 54G, but I can't get an internet connection through the 54G even via LAN cable connected to port 1 on the router. I have a LAN cable connected from port 4 onthe WRT110 to the internet port on the 54G. The following lights are lit on the front of the 54G: WLAN, Internet, port 1. The cables all check out ok.

I have done a cold reboot on the cable modem & both routers (including removing the backup battery on the modem). I changed the 54G IP address to 192.168.1.10 so as not to conflict with the 110 which is 192.168.1.1. I can see in the config page where the modem has assigned the domain name, IP address, etc, but I still cannot get an internet connection, nor successfully ping another IP address on the network. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.6
