Hello,
I recently brought a Linksys Cisco router and entered the disc that comes with it to set up my secured wired and wireless network. I have 2 laptops and an Xbox. When I try to connect the Xbox it works fine, connecting the other laptop in the bedroom also works fine but when I try to get internet on my laptop it says that I have limited connectivity and then it boots the person off the Xbox. I am not sure if I set it up correctly. Is there any way that I can just reset everything on my laptop and get back to the Factory Settings and then try and reinstall it? I have Windows Vista as an OS. I don't understand how the box says simple to install and I have been trying to figure this out for three days now! Frustrating as hell when you do not have computer networking experience and to be honest I didn't think you needed it if it was a simple plug and install.

Is it possible that I just need to change some settings on there? I can only connect my laptop as a wired device and the wireless is no hope. The laptop is brand new so I know it has nothing to do with that.

I tired calling Time Warner Cable and they were as much help as a chocolate kettle! All they tried to do was get me to get their wireless router!

Anways, if you need more information please let me know as I am beginning to wonder if it would be better just to throw my laptop out the window! Maybe a jolt to the system would get it working again!

I previously had a Linksys but it was an old model so I just brought a new one to upgrade it and to secure it and it wasn't secure before. Also, when I try and connect to the internet it seems to try and connect to Linksys and the name of my Network I set up so sometimes it says I am connected to two! Am I going insane here? Need help desperately!

Thanks!

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7.0

Oh and this configuration is not correct that you see as it's my work one. The one at home as I said it Windows Vista and Internet Explorer or Firefox.

Please call Linksys 800-326-7114. They come on within 3 minutes and your problems disappear. I tried three times. They have excellent customer service.

Cisco support came on in three minutes, but they couldn't help me. You have to call Comcast, and they have to "configure" your Ethernet port. Wait a pain in the ass! I only have a laptop as my home computer, and it is connected with a USB port. The Linksys router doesn't support it.

Hey, i had the same problem and i fixed it myself by going to dis site, it guided me thru my whole steup http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesssetup.mspx

For Linksys users only(type in this on ur address bar):
http://192.168.1.1

and it will ask for ur username and password. The factory username and password is:
Username:
admin
Password:
admin

Then u config it and it'll soon start working.

I had the same problem using a Linksys WMP54GS adapter. I have two other desktops using the same card with no problems. The most recent card came with version 1.5 and I am running version1.4 on the other two Win SP Pro desktop. I unistalled the driver and removed the card and then booted using the Linksys version 1.4 CD. The card is the same model and is a 1.1 verison. I installed the card and completed by key registration and secured the connection. Rebooted and now I can access the internet via IE. This is all after 3 hours of troubleshooting.
