Hello,
I recently brought a Linksys Cisco router and entered the disc that comes with it to set up my secured wired and wireless network. I have 2 laptops and an Xbox. When I try to connect the Xbox it works fine, connecting the other laptop in the bedroom also works fine but when I try to get internet on my laptop it says that I have limited connectivity and then it boots the person off the Xbox. I am not sure if I set it up correctly. Is there any way that I can just reset everything on my laptop and get back to the Factory Settings and then try and reinstall it? I have Windows Vista as an OS. I don't understand how the box says simple to install and I have been trying to figure this out for three days now! Frustrating as hell when you do not have computer networking experience and to be honest I didn't think you needed it if it was a simple plug and install.
Is it possible that I just need to change some settings on there? I can only connect my laptop as a wired device and the wireless is no hope. The laptop is brand new so I know it has nothing to do with that.
I tired calling Time Warner Cable and they were as much help as a chocolate kettle! All they tried to do was get me to get their wireless router!
Anways, if you need more information please let me know as I am beginning to wonder if it would be better just to throw my laptop out the window! Maybe a jolt to the system would get it working again!
I previously had a Linksys but it was an old model so I just brought a new one to upgrade it and to secure it and it wasn't secure before. Also, when I try and connect to the internet it seems to try and connect to Linksys and the name of my Network I set up so sometimes it says I am connected to two! Am I going insane here? Need help desperately!
Thanks!
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

I had the same problem using a Linksys WMP54GS adapter. I have two other desktops using the same card with no problems. The most recent card came with version 1.5 and I am running version1.4 on the other two Win SP Pro desktop. I unistalled the driver and removed the card and then booted using the Linksys version 1.4 CD. The card is the same model and is a 1.1 verison. I installed the card and completed by key registration and secured the connection. Rebooted and now I can access the internet via IE. This is all after 3 hours of troubleshooting. |
