How to share d drives of 2 pc at home?

Hello,
i want to make 2 pc's lan so that i can share data directly through d drive...n for that what to do?
and 1 more que is how can we know our pc's ip adderess?can you plz give me idea?

I have two pc, both pc are conneted in lan via cross cable. I have problem that I could not send data one PC to another PC. Pl. tell me what is problem, you can solve me that.
