Hello,

Ok, well it started out with me getting a laptop, from a friend of mine, I bought it from him and I didn't want any of his information on it. So I wiped the laptop clean of information, little did I know that wiping everything that I did literally meant......EVERYTHING.... so I've tried going into safe mode to try to get an Administrator account to restart the whole system of information on it but every time I try to log in there is only two user names (Safe Mode or not) Other User and Admin. Now when I try to get into the Admin account( i know the password) it says this account has been blocked go to system administrator for ...blah blah blah....fixing that problem I would guess.

Now when I go to Other User i can't get in no matter what I do Guest with no password doesn't work. I've tried to reset the BIOS and use a recovery disc. but when i try to restore the system it says the disk does not have the program files needed. Which I think means to me that I need the actual Windows Vista Home Premium CD/DVD original copy bought from stores and reuploading it bak into the laptop.

What I'm trying to figure out is if I can just copy the program files needed from a separate PC that has windows Vista Home Premium already, onto maybe a flash drive or a CD ROM, and making it bootable as I put it into my laptop. Is that possible or do I HAVE TO BUY it from a store and get a brand new CD/DVD from the store.......?

And I have done everything possible...i mean everything possible to fix the problem but it always points back to no program files. Because I went to Command Prompt and looked at all the information on the laptop...and.....there isn't any.......lol.....Kinda my fault I deleted everything but don't get me wrong the Laptop still boots up as if it was fine. So maybe it could be different let me know.

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.6

Yeah you will need the copy of the disc for vista, good news is you probably dont need to buy it, you just need the same version that was originally installed on the laptop, you could just borrow someones or get it online, the reason you wont need to buy one is that you already have the license key on a sticker somewhere on your laptop, no matter where you get it from as long as you enter that key its all above board and perfectly legal. you might be able to download or torrent a copy, microsoft might even have it on their site. Just make sure you are downloading the right version or the license key wont work, then of course you might have driver problems aswell. He should have sold you all the discs with it too, too many people dont hold on to the discs, they are all important!!
