im afraid to remove, it might damage the key. I'm using acer aspire V5-471. could you check if it can be remove safely without damaging the key. im sorry. I'm not a techie person. I just bought this last dec and I'm not expecting this malfunction on my keyboard. thank you for helping me. appreciate it

Did you try an external USB connected keyboard? If the external keyboard works then you probably need to replace the existing keyboard.

you can try to clean around and under the key. Some keyboard allow you to remove the key cap - in that case you can do an even better job of cleaning.
If you click on the "start" icon and type OSK and then hit <enter> you will start the On Screen Keyboard. Then you can click on the key you want to type.
