My sims 2 for mac won't start.

Hello, I'm having a little problem & I was wondering if someone could help me.

My sims 2 for mac used to work perfectly fine, but I havent played it for a while and now it just won't start. I've already reinstalled, but nothing changed.
I click the play symbol & it keeps popping for a few seconds & then it closes.. just like that.

I really hope someone can help me!

I'm having the same exact problem with mine. I can't figure out what the problem is. The only thing I could think to do was reinstall it and that didn't help anything. Please help!!

The same thing is happening to me. Bounces maybe two times and that's it. Though it's weird that we have the same problem during the same week.

After looking around on the Sims forums, it seems this problem is linked to an Apple Quicktime update that was incompatible with the Aspyr software. The problem is trying to be resolved.

Sorry for so many posts, but I found the fix. And all I did was look in the support folder of the main sims 2 folder.
Go here: http://support.aspyr.com/ and follow the quicktime 7.6 fixes.

Hey! i need help with this problem, my sims also dont work and I download the update from sims 2 combo patch (something like that) and then the Seasons_1.7RevA.reissue.zip wich is supposed to resolve it but then the game asked for the cd and it said "Please inser the disc <<<kGameName>>> or quit"

Did i do something wrong??

Yes, I am having the same problem. It only gives me the option to quit. what is happening? it was just working fine and now nothing!!!!!

I'm having the same problem, i downloaded the patch and the other thing, and when i open it says the er the disc <<<kGameName>>> or quit"
if you have worked out how to fix this please let me know, it's driving me insane!

I've read the strings and had the same problem but the link and patch seems to have fixed it.

I've downloaded the app icon and the game opens and runs now, albeit a bit slow. Do I need to update my game by running the patch for The Sims 2 (version1.0 Rev.F)?

If you update to the Leopard system it should work. the older Tiger version doesn't seem to want to work with the SIMS 2 game.

My game still won't work either. It loads now but quits once it gets to "Blurring the Lines of Reality". :(

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO! I LOVE THE SIMS IT'S MY LIFE AND I DIDN'T PLAY IT FOR LIKE 2 WEEKS BECAUSE I WAS ON VACATION AND NOW WHEN I CLICK ON IT IT BOUNCES UP AND DOWN LIKE IT'S GONNA START BUT THEN IT JUST STOPS AND NOTHING HAPPENS!

After installing qt7.6 patches & the replacement icon, i get the exact same insert disc message. pretty sure i did everything properly. help???

Ok...so wait...are all the people getting the insert k disc error using OSX Tiger(4.x) by chance? Someone up there mentioned it worked fine with Leopard(5.x)...which made me think that the game SPORE(by the same company) requires 5.x to run...have they made Sims2 Leopard-Only as well?...does this mean Sims 3 will be Leopard-Only?? This is all making me sad...

I've reinstalled and installed the patches and it keeps telling me "the main game data is missing" and to reinstall the game. anyone else having this problem?

Wooo...fixed! i think...i managed to downgrade my quicktime 7.6 to 7.5.5...using a program called Pacifist & the free 7.5.5 download from the QT site. Apparently other users have got their sims & other aspyr games working again by doing this. I'll re-install Sims 2 this week & report if it works properly...

Im having a problem w/ my sim city 4 deluxe edition. the same thig happened to me. i used to play it alot and it was fine. and now it doesnt come on at all when i want to play it. i uninstalled then reinstalled it a few days ago and it worked fine and now it doesnt work anymore. can someone help me plez?

Tried to revert to quicktime 7.5.5...which it says ive done...but i still get the kgamename insert disc error

so even without qt7.6, you still cannot run Aspyr games on Tiger anymore!?!?!?

So has anyone gotten the "patch" downloads to fix anything?? I tried downloading the Bon Voyage fix, but it did nothing. So then I decided to reinstall Sims 2, and downloaded the regular Sims 2 fix, still nothing. I don't get any error messages, its just the same bounce a couple times then nothing.

I had this problem so i got the patch Rev F but it still wouldnt work
I finally figiured it out when i Deleted all of my reinstalled sims ( exept the patch )
Installed the sims Then added the patch which installs the sims again so you hav to delete the old 1 It took me ages to download all of it 4 times so i hope this saves sum time XD

Ugh! First the game would open and in the welcome screen, it would shut off. I did not have many families created, so I just deleted it (emptied my trash bin) and reinstalled it. Then the icon thing would just bounce and it wouldn't even start up...just like all of ya'll had said. I have read all of ya'lls posts, and other websites. I then downloaded both links from the ASPYR website, the "combo update" and the zip file to give me the "fixed" icon. Then I restarted the computer. I have my disk in, so it never asked me to insert it. BUT it did start up - until the WELCOME screen came up and it shut off again....SO i'm at a loss. I've tried everything. I'm about to take my mac to the Apple store, maybe they can fix it.
