When I log on, I am automatically logged off

Hello,
I have had a google hijack virus of some kind, in my attempts to clean it I ran a virus scan. After it cleaned it I restarted computer. Running Windows XP. Now when I log in, it just gives wallpaper-no icons, then logs me out sometimes imediately other times after minute or so. I can't figure out how to get command prompt or anything. It does the same thing in safe mode too. I don't have anything too important on my hard drive, that I haven't already saved, but would like to use computer again.
