Hello,

I have a wierd issue with a Windows XP SP2 machine in which I can't set a custom program as a default application when opening an extension. In this case say the extension is .ics when you choose "Open With" and then go Browse to find the application you wish to open the flie with, it doesn't appear in the list thereafter so you may choose it and set it as the default application for that extension.

Is there any other way of forcing an extension to open with a certain application, anything possible via the registry?

Has anyone ever experienced this symptom before?

Thanks in advance guys.

Configuration: Windows XP
Safari 525.27.1

I am trying to set it to open with Lotus Notes.

As seen in the above image, if I choose lotus notes from "Browse" it will appear in the "OTHER PROGRAMS" list.

But on this other PC it will not add it to the list so i'm not able to use it to open the file.

I also have this issue: Other programs > select .exe file > Choose > opens with some other app that I don't want. My app isn't in the list to choose from.

Hello,
when choosing select "browse" - browse to "C:\program files" - find your program there. it should be an .exe file. (application file)

I am also having a similar issue. I am hitting the exe file and nothing happens. I know its the correct file, but nothing. In my case I am dealing with an newer version of a program and my files are still wanting to open in the old version of the program. Thing is, I cant uninstall the old version. I still need to have both versions. Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi there,
if you download CCleaner, see if you can remove the old program using that piece of freeware.
