Compaq shutting off

Hello,
I recently took my desktop to staples to have it fixed do to it freezing up on me..they did a disc recovery and now was working fine..I plugged it all in,added my wireless internet cord to it and started downloading Nortons 360..It started downloading just fine and next thing I knew turned off..monitor went blank(dark like turned off) but i saw the green power button was still on the desktop but could hear no sound of a modom running nothing..Only way could turn it off was by shutting by pulling the plug and starting all over..everytime i tried did same thing..shutting off..Its annoying me just because just paid to repair and never had this problem before..Its a compaq desktop 5000 series..5320 US..windows xp...any help is needed.TY

Okay but why dont you format your pc and re-install windows XP?
