Hello,
I have an acer extensa 5420 laptop. My dog chewed through the power cord. I got a new one but now when I plug it into my laptop, the light goes out on the power cord and it will not charge.
If I unplug the cord for a while, the light comes on when I try it again but it always goes out as soon as I try to plug it into my laptop. I tried a power supply reset but had no luck. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi Dangeruss1,

The symptoms you have mentioned (i.e., the light on the AC adapter goes off as soon as it is plugged in the machine) indicates that the motherboard might have gone bad. As you have mentioned this problem started after the dog tampered the AC Adapter, this might have caused a short circuit on the motherboard circuitry. This might require you to replace the motherboard.

Please reply if you have any further questions.
