How to remove symantec antivirus from my pc

Hello,
i m zaheer. i had a symantec antivirus software and wanted to remove it . by mistake i deleted some files of symentec from c drive but all files were not deleted. i tried removing it from add/remove option but its not working. now every time i make right click on any file the installation on symantec starts , not only this but every time i copy or try to delete this instalation starts. because of this my pc has become very slow and i m not able to load any other antivirus also. help me if any one can or formatting is only option for me .

Configuration: Windows XP
Internet Explorer 6.0

Try the Norton Removal Tool. It just removes ALL of the files individually and all of the keys in the registry. Free to download and use.

Norton removal tool is a pile of crap and doesn't work if Norton is not showing up in add/remove.
This doesn't solve anything.

Just go to control panner and click add or remove then go to symantec and click change now you can see repair,modify,remove.click remove.that's it.
