Factory restore with all drivers? hard drive about to crash! :(

Hello,
I have a Sony Vaio and it keeps acting up from time to time giving me the blue screen and shutting off then when I turn it back on says "OS system not found" I restart it like 5 or 6 times before it goes to windows but then says Press F2 to go to windows, but make a backup of everything your hard drive is not good or something like that.

Question is I had restarted my computer and all and with the same hard drive but still the same problem. I had went on the sony website to install the drivers but some of them are not working totally like the left mouse button and right one so I have to hook up a USB one for it to work.

How I want to get a newer hard drive, 500gb or 1tb for it. I want to start fresh with sony factory settings for this laptop. I read that you got to keep pressing F10 when restart or how does that go once windows is installed and all?

Thank you so much in advance. And by the way I have a Sony Vaio Vpcec490x I really love it had it for 18 months.

The Windows restore to factory data is stored on a hidden partition on the hard drive. If you replace the hard drive then you can't do a restore. You might try to contact Sony to see if they will sell you a DVD with the restore data.

Question. Could I restore with factory settings with this hard drive. Then save it for reboot or something like that? Would that work also?

I wouldn't attempt a factory restore on a computer with suspect hardware. It might be better to have a computer repair shop clone the drive (ie copy the current drive) to a new drive for you. The money it costs might be well worth it. A good shop will also have a OEM version of Windows that they can install on the new drive. Using your current Windows serial number.
