Not able to access internet by wlan

Hello,

yesterday i connected to an unsecured wlan i.e ip configured by DHCP but i was not able to access internet I.E display "can not find the server " i have lenovo y410 laptop there is no problem in the hardware or modem.
can you help in this case?

Configuration: WINDOWS XP
INTERNET EXPLORER
