Problems loading call of duty world at war

Hello,
My son is on level 43 call of duty world at war ps3 and suddenly when he logs on in his name it will not load any ideas

Configuration: ps3

Im having the same problem, it's freezing at the screen where it says 'downloading game settings...' it isn't frozen though because I can still go back to the main menu. I had the same problem with Modern Warfare. Any suggestions on how to fix this. As a Lvl 42 Major III I put in a lot of work but if I have to go back to Private just to play, so be it, I just want to play though!

I have the same exact problem with COD 4 for the PS3. COD 5 still works on multiplayer but not 4. It freezes at the downloading screen but I can still hit "O" to go back to the previous screen. I left it for 20 minutes before and it still didn't work.

I have a problem with the game i go to the loading screen and it play the music and then freezes on a black screen and i gust sit their and i bought a new bran new game still nothing

If you leave it for long enough the game finishes downloading settings. I have had to leave it for a day before it started to work. You usually get this type of error after downloading a patch.

Im having almost the same exact problem but for me, when i try to start up COD WaW i can hear the error sound and all i get is a black screen like its frozen. any help?

I have the PS3 version of call of duy world at war, i get several problems...
soetimes it get the problem you are having where it just stays on "downloading game settings", i notmally sort that out by quitting the game and going back on it, i also have one where after you press the start button onece you load up the game, where it says "solo", "co-operative" and "multiplayer" it just does the same thing only with "reading HDD"...
i also have a problem with online games, the match just does not load...

Try checking your internet connection as if this not connected i.e via the modem or wireless or is interupted then the game will hang ie will not load , failing that do a complete system restore from the system menu and then reinstall the game? This will restore as if it was new. Ensure you keep a record of files, passwords etc as these will be lost when carying out this process. After that said please consult your manual as the above is done at your own risk. FYI I have restored mine many times. Mad_Britt

Solution to cod4 "downloading settings" Message pull the power on your router! put it back in! JOB DONE!!!!! i have had to do this for ages, so believe me i know how stressful it gets... My problem is since PS3 3.0 I Cant get passed menu because the "auto saving game, do not turn off power" sign comes up? And it wont let me press x to clear it!? any thoughts? get me on (PSN) LonelyJew..... thanks guys

I had the same problem with cod5 on my ps3 it would load then say something was not supported for this game then i would restart it then it wouldnt even load at all in till the first screen so i deleted all the cod5 things of the saved data utility and it works perfect now.... its worth a try

Sorted it!!!!!!!! STAY signed out till after main menu! works fine everytime now even when signed in from start-up... whoopage for me

Doesn't work. Signing in after the Main Menu doesn't fix the issue. Any other suggestions??

Go on your trophies logo, press triangle and sync ur trophies it works for me
