No sound from ubuntu

Hello,

I am completely new at linux. By the way they work perfect except from the sound. From the hardware information i've seen that my sound card Conexant CX20549-12 is recognized but I just can't get no sound. Also everything is unmuted. Nothing is muted...

Hello

ubuntu 7.10 supports your card but there are a few issues...
ubuntu does not support mp3 only wav and some other 1 or 2 native formats.
download vlc media player(supports all formats) or xmms(mp3player) to play mp3 and video files.

i think u should re-install ur driver as maybe it got unable when u install ubuntu,,,,,so good luck dear n hope it works see ya;-)
