Hi,
Open up the "Control Panel"

Click on "Folder Options"

select the "view" tab

Under "Advanced Settings" you should see "Show Hidden Files and Folders"

Select it, hit apply and you should be good to go.

You may also need to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"

then you may proceed for a search.

Click Start/Run,type regedit then press Ok
Navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advan ced\Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL

Now right click on,and delete the value "CheckedValue" in the right hand window.

Now create a new "DWORD Value" called exactly CheckedValue in the right hand window.
Double click on CheckedValue.
In the opening 'Edit DWORD Value' box,set the 'Value data:' to 1

Press Ok,exit regedit,restart your pc.

Hi, I'm afraid you won't be able to recover that folder.

However, if you launch a search in the search box for the name of one of the files contained in the folder, then select this file in the "found entries" list, right-click it and select "go to file location" in the context menu, you might find the entirety of your folder. All you have to do then is copy those files to a new folder on your desktop and voil !

Only problem is you're gonna need to be using Vista or Windows 7, because XP doesn't feature this "go to file location" entry...

You can download the restore tool from http://www.cleanersoft.com/download/tools/Restore.exe. But please backup your hidden information by using 'Backup' item in the software next time. The backup function is not backup your data, but the hidden information created by the software.

Hi SVmanavanna,

I have similar problem except that my drive C was crashed, and the hidden folder was in drive D.
I have replaced drive C with new drive and window XP Pro installed, and also re-installed the Free-Hide-Folder software , but still could not recover that hidden folder stored in Drive D.

So far I have not yet found any solution for it yet including the attempt to use software to repair that crashed drive C.

The website link you posted for the free software Restore Tool does not get to it, it is shown as below

http://www.cleanersoft.com/index.html

Thanks,

Peter

I have same problem just like you. C drive crashed. D drive using Free Hide Folder to store my pictures.

step 1 : download the WS_FTP software (very old ftp software, download from internet)
step 2 : run WS_FTP to connect to any ftp site
step 3 : from local folder, select your hidden data drive, for example D drive
step 4 : you will find that your hidden folder has been renamed as "CHKDSK.100 " which has some unreadable trailing characters
step 5 : rename the folder to any readable characters, such as "recover"
step 6 : logout WS_FTP
step 7 : from window XP, using the dos command mode, go to D drive
step 8 : type this command "attrib -s -h -r -a recover"
step 9 : that's it ! the folder are recovered and named as recover, all files recovered !
