Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0
Hello
Have you tested the internet connection without router, means connect the computer directly to modem. If not, then you can test it. This way you can test whether it's ISP or router problem. |
I have the same exact problem. I have a Belkin 4-port 54 G Router, and my internet connection is fine, and I tried a restore, and restarted my computer more than3 times already. I have also tried to reset the ip address, however, when I try to connect to the wireless, I am unable to reset the ip. I reconfigured the router twice already. The internet can be used by cord, and I have a full signal from the router to the computer, but it's the router connection to the internet that's the problem.
All help would be greatly appreciated on this problem. |
My problem is we are losing Internet Explorer, but not the Internet. We can still paly X Box games, but cannot get a browser at times. I reset the router and it works, aagin, but then a few days later the same problem. The only thing new in my house is an additonal lap top and user. So, we have more traffic.
I have the G router 54 mbps Thanks for any suggestions. When I go to one of the sellers of the product, they do not have any idea what I am talking about. |
Known Problem - Easy Solved
The problem here is that your Bellkin routers ADSL or Cable PNP gets confussed and drops the connection. Simply setting your router back to it's factory defaults and re-installing the config will fix the issue. You will also notice that your Internet connection will be slightly faster by 5% as a result - Wink! 1 ) Make a desktop link to your routers config page normally http://192.168.2.1/ 2 ) Click this link and open up the config page 3 ) Make a backup of your config to your hard drive and a removable media device 4 ) Reset your Belkin Router back to the factory default settings 5 ) Close the page and reboot computer 6 ) Open the config page and choose restore previouse settings - leave password blank! 7 ) Locate the saved config file called ( user.conf ) and then install file - wait 30 seconds 8 ) Reboot computer once again and wait for all routers lights to turn green That's It - Your Done! May I suggest that you reset your router at least once a month in the above manor, and save your working config file to a removable media device for safe keeping. I hope this helps ;) Wonkey Wizard |
I have had the same problem and it seemed to have started after the Microsoft updates this month. 2 laptops with wireless get dropped but a hardwired desktop stay up and connected and works fine. It looks like only the TCP/IP is down as i can not even ping the router but the wireless zero configuration utility still shows connected at full capacity (54Mb). I have updated to the newest firmware and it still continued on both. The desktop is XP sp2 the laptops are both XP, 1 SP2 and 1 SP3.
Now for the kicker. I also have a D-link 54G that used to replace the Belkin, just to see if it made a difference. The D-Link does the same thing though but down to maybe once a day from 4 or 5 times a day.
