Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0
Hello
Monitors have two modes they work in. 1. Alphanumeric mode which is used in DOS and by the BIOS. 2. Graphics mode which is used when in Windows. It's possible for one mode to be disfunctional on either the monitor or adapter. However, a common problem causing a black screen in the graphics mode, is having the resolution or screen refresh higher than the monitor can handle. Boot up in safe mode and lower the resolution and refresh to see if that's the problem. |
Hi
I have just sold my old computer to a friend, which I set up yesterday and was working fine. My friend went to switch it on today the tower, comes and on the screen it comes up with as though you haven't shut the computer down properly and asks you if you want to start windows normally which then I press the enter button it fires up with the Windows Xp logo and then the monitor turns it self off and the orange light comes on the screen and says there is no signal? yet the tower is still fired up. can anyone please help.... thanks |
Hi,
I'm havin the same problem. Originally the screed would flicker and go black even when starting up, and now its when i run large programs (Like Assassins Creed / ACAD......) I doubt this is because of my graphics card: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU @ 2.66GHz RAM 2047MB System Type: 32-Bit (windows Vista ultimate) NVIDIA GForce 8600GT Thing is, the monitor works fine on my sisters Computer, but only screws up on mine. I bought it in February (the whole computer) and haven't had any problems until now...... when i installed windows vista Any ideas? Thanks chris |
as for Chros are you sure you have the most current drivers for vista? because that might not allow the card work fully and it maybe messing with the refresh rate of your monitor,
as for spoons, does safe mode work, could be a driver issue or the video card is displaying outside the range of the monitor. |

HI TRUST_1,
make sure you have all the drivers necessary for using vista,or maybe it is just the cable so verify it and tie the screws well |
Its funny but I am having the same problem for the past 3 weeks now. I checked the cables if its loose or not, software settings etc etc.
After a cold pc start the monitor does not come on after 30 mins and sometimes it takes up to an hr. If I have left the screen on it comes on after 30mins or so but if i had switched off the monitor from the mains then it takes longer to come on. When i press the the on/off button the screen comes on for less millisec's. Today I have updated my Geforce 6800 drivers so lets see if that fixes the problem. I was thinking it might have been the adapter taking time to warm up or something stupid like that.

yes i know what the problem is its not ur graphics card etc its something to do with ur screen resolution or ur refresh rate try lowering ur resolution and ur refresh rate im 100% sure ur screen will come on
