This is something I recommended 4 someone else.........Try this: Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware using a friend's PC. Once downloaded, change the Setup file name 2 anything u choose. B sure it's something simple u can remember. Now, transfer the file via flash drive or other movable media 2 your PC. B sure 2 disconnect from internet and disable any Anti-Virus u have installed on your PC. Install on your PC, then run setup. If u can't update, don't worry. Just run a quick scan. Remove anything it finds....Reboot your PC. Now try running the update manager. When it updates, run a full system scan. Again, remove anything it finds. 4 future protection, download and install AVG Free Anti-Virus. It's free and it works a lot better than most Anti-Viruses. U can download the 2 at: www.download.com..........Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

Kathy,

Did you try what rubrami281 suggested? I have the same problem and would like to try to fix it without having to back up my files and reinstall Windows.

I have the same problem with this Trojan.Brisv. It says to remove it manually but I for one do not know how to do this. It states when I run the scan for it that it is gone, but when I do the scan it always comes back. Can anyone help with this?

My problem is that I know where the trojan thing is and what it is, but when i try to manually delete it or use Norton to delete it, it wont let me or Norton delete it. I tried Norton's Trojan removal tool and it didn't work.

I have the virus also. I have tried different methods of eliminating it which i found on message boards. I've run a full scan on norton, in normal mode and safe mode, I've also downloaded the tool by Semantic designed to get rid of this specific virus. What happens when I run the anti virus is that it shows up and the action it takes is "left alone". It wont let me change it to to anything besides "left alone". I appreciate any help you guys can offer. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. Mine is actually pointing to a file on the D drive which isn't even connected anymore! It keeps popping up & saying that Symantec Endpoint Auto-Protect found & cleaned the virus & the current location is D:\Users\...... The D drive is a DVDRW drive with no files waiting to be written to it.

To get rid of this I ran the Symantec removal tool to make sure that the virus was truly gone. Then I had to uninstall Symantec, reboot, then remove registry entries HKLM\Software\Symantec & HKCU\Software\Symantec, & most importantly remove both the c:\ProgramData\Symantec folder & the c:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Symantec folder. I also had to change the owner & security of the c:\ProgramData\Symantec folder because it was locked out to users. I just added the Everyone group with full permissions, changed the owner (including the check box to replace owner on subcontainers), then I was able to delete the folder which holds a locked out Quarantine folder. I rebooted, then reinstalled Symantec & everything is back to normal. I hope this helps somebody.

Hi,

try to remove it manually if your anti-spyware can't delete it: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-trojan-brisv-a-inf.html
