Hotmail scam

umar - Latest answer on Jan 22, 2012 10:15am GMT
Hello,
my name is irfan umar and i am seeing this message when trying to access my live/hotmail account...
""Your account has been blocked
Why are you seeing this?
Someone may have used your account to send out a lot of junk messages (or something else that violates the Windows Live Terms of Service).
We're here to help you get your account back.
What do you need to do?
We'll walk you through a few steps to verify that you own the account, then have you change your password in case someone else has been accessing your account. It should only take a few minutes and then you'll be unblocked and on your way.
We've cleaned your account settings
Often customers get here because someone else has access to your account and are using it without your knowledge to send spam. To protect you and your contacts, we've removed any Hotmail auto-replies or linked accounts you may have had.""
It's telling me that someone may have used my old account, which is still up and running but i no longer remember the password for it. it's trying to get me to verify that it belongs to me, yet i don't know the password and even if i did it wouldn't let me get to my email because it's "BLOCKED" so even getting the verification code for my CURRENT one, it would be impossible...so therefore i am stuck, I do not know what to do...
ANY HELP PLEASE? :/

Hello Umar

I suggest that the message you received is a scam. Hotmail does not use terms such as "junk" or "something else". It's an attempt to hack your account or personal information.

To recover your password, follow the instructions in this faq:
