Hello,

I have dl everything from malware bytes, superantispyware, spysweeper etc ran numerous online virus scanners and trials ( AVG, AVAST, Kaspersky, Nod32, trendmicro etc not at the same time) software removal tools, combofix/smithfraud/regsupreme/hijackthis/, defraggers, ccleaner, and other fixes etc and unfortunately I believe I am still suffering from side effects of antivirus xp I caught 4 months ago. For the longest time I couldn't boot into normal mode or dl windows update since I can only access safemode. I had problems with system policy where I couldn't dl many things because malware? or hardware i don' know , but I lost administrative privileges even if I had only administrator account. I joined 3+ online forums that specialize in malware removal and although they helped greatly my problems are not completely fixed. The last malware forum helper who reviewed my logs said he/she coudln't find malware, so it might be another issue .But fortunately( after many hours scourig ms help center+ forums for solution) now I can boot into normal mode after uninstalling windows SP3. The problem is I still have blue screen ( with no warning message) and my system in normal mode is still very slow. It takes 4-5 minutes to load programs, start up takes 20+ minutes, program response is usually 1-2 minutes on average, constant freezing, so essentially normal mode is a nightmare. I can go into safemode fine, even booted in safemode to try to fix problems but no luck. I just want some help into fixing my blue desktop wallpaper as it is getting pretty annoying. I tried going to . superantispyware has an option to fix hijacked wallwaper but it doesn' work for me. Is there any way to change my blue wallpaper? There was a solution i found that asked me to dl from kellyskorner but when I clicked on .exe file it didn't run but gave me page of code?/? still trying to figure that out...

Also I was advised to reinstall widows but problem is I don't have original XP cd that came with my laptop..... ad I am somewhat hesitant in tinkering w/ my system as I might cause further damage. so I am just taking things one at a time... any help or suggestions in fixing blue wallpaper ( icons work fine, loading time takes too long, logs seem to be clean, and can't access systeminfo for some reason) will be appreciated!!!

Configuration: Windows XP
Firefox 3.0.5

Id search for spyot search and destroy, its free and very good. As for your actual problem i think the malware, spyware has already done the damage and you might have to get an XP disc and click the repair option. You will already have the registration (license ) key on your computer for the version of xp you have installed so its not like you have to buy another copy, im sure you will be able to borrow the disc off of a friend or maybe even Microsoft have the .iso image of it for download.
