Hello,
i have a hp tx1000 and when i turn on my computer a black screen with a small white dash on the top left hand corner of the screen keeps flashing. i tried getting it to its factory settings but the f11 icon will not enable me to achieve this. i dont know what to do? i pretty much wasted £100 to get it to work for only a few days.
please can someone kindly advise on what i can do with this pile of junk!
would be much appreciated.
Configuration: Windows Vista Opera 9.60
Yeah it could be a hardrive error but its sounds more like the computer isnt recognizing it more than its broken, is it new have you tried taking it out giving it a blow and putting it in again? Sometimes it just needs to be reinserted. You can use the screwdriver you get in a glasses repair kit to open it. I had a friend whose harddrive was messed up but i could still get into the boot up menu, try taking it out and putting it back in again, thankfully harddrives are relatively cheap anyway but you will still have to get an xp disc n matter what the outcome |
My HP TX1210us laptop's graphic card died yesterday and now it's a completely useless $1300 piece of cr*p. It seems that Nvidia designed this faulty chipset and HP has been using it for a while. The ironic part is that it dies shortly after the warranty expires.

I had the same problem too. My tx1219us just won't boot up. It powers up, lights turn on but i just get a blank screen. I talked to a case manager at HP and he has the guts to say and i quote "I must say that there is no product that has life time support." then he added "Every entity has it's term." I'm thinking about filing a small claims against HP. who is on board?

SAME BLANK SCREEN ISSUE while the lights all blink at start-up.

If you don't want to pay $400 to HP to fix this, this worked for me:

My HP tx1219 has the same problems all of you are bringing up. I bought an extended warranty when I purchased it from Circuit "we're now bankrupt" City which is now covered by some company called Nexicore. Worked okay for about 20 months, then problems started. It has been sent in twice and had new system boards installed, but within a week of return it won't startup, just sits there with a black screen and LEDs glowing.

My TX 1000 started booting to blank screen (a month ago) but stats somehow after 50 tries (I mean literally!). In addition it has additional problems which I suspect could be related to crappy hardware

I have this question too. But i have fixed up, although not throughly. I use a bag to cover laptop and keep it running. Then put it under blanket and wait 30 minutes. After cool down, try it again. I learn it from another. i really wanna to thank him/her.

I also just started having this issue with black screen I'm gonna try the YouTube video see if it works, as far as the wifi not being found I have tracked it back to a windows security update. When I denied the update and restarted the comp the wifi light amazingly turned blue again. When I accepted the update it went dead again. I contacted hp about the update issue and they said they would investigate that's it |
I have begun having the black out screen problem too. Been so for a week now. Intermittently the laptop does boot up. If the series is a failure then why can't they extend the warranty to 2 years like they did for some DV series.

This is to everyone who owns a TX Series notebook with the GPU issue.

Easy fix for the black screen...It is the solder connections on the GBA (grid Ball Array) they need to be reflowed. If you want to fix this yourself and not have to take laptop apart follow these steps
|
The problem is indeed with the soldering. A low-tech. solution is to 1) wrap the computer in towels and let it run, accumulating heat to melt the soldering (30 minutes) and the 2) while hot, press down on the J K L ; row of keys (hard) while it cools down. This will rejoin the loose part and the computer should work fine.

What a piece of sh.....t HP tx1000, I had nothing but problems, I did the blanket trick....it worked but when I turn it off I must redo the blanket trick over and over, we are planning to go public big time with this...to wrap up your laptop plugged and turned on in 2 towels for 30 minutes to get it running......HP should be ashamed to sell such a cheap computer. And they have the nerve to say they have good product....they should see how Toshiba and Sony take care of their customers! Cheap parts they use, real cheap! |
