You may need a new bios battery. That happened to me, and not only was the time flukey, but I kept getting messages that many of my subscriptions were out of date, because the timing was going bananas.

It's a cheap fix, as the battery is simply one of those round ones, like are in watches, only larger. Check your computer manual for the correct one.

I had the same problem, I finally figured it out. when you adjust the tim e and date by right clicking the time, there
are THREE tabs one for the current time one for time zone. which has an automatic update that you can turn off (uncheck). And one Ive not seen before behind that tab that says internet time which updates its self every day or two. I am now looking to see if that is a microsoft update from sp2 or if its malware.

Hope this helps

Like the other guy said, your time zone is screwed up. I went to the tabs, found out that it was syncing the time with Microsoft, which isn't bad, because who wants incorrect time? Then noticed that my time zone was set for PST, and I live in EST. Explains why the sync was putting my time back three hours. Please note this is on VISTA, I don't remember if its the same on XP.

So basically (On VISTA),

Click on time > Click Change date and time settings > Click change time zone > set it to the time zone you live in > Change to the correct time because it will alter it to the new time zone.

Hope this helps.
