Hello All,

Need your help urgently.

I have an Acer TravelMate 4072NLCi with Windows XP SP2. It had been working great all this time for me without any problems what so ever. I bought it in August 2006.

But last night when I switched it on, it started as usual, goes to the windows logo screen with loading and suddenly a blue screen appeared for 2 seconds and dissapeared and restarted again. After it restarted again it gave me some options to click on -

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with networking
Safe Mode with command prompt
Last known good configuration
Start windows normally

So I clicked on "start windows normally" and it repeated the same which happened to me earlier blue screen ----> restart due to system failure.

Now let me tell you guys, I started clicking every single option listed above to get it working and it did the same as above. I am able to press all the F2 / F8 / F12 with no problems but those options did not let me restore my laptop to work. Now when I switch on the laptop, I can hear the Hard disk sound..with the click click click sounds... I read a couple of forums with regard to this problem or similar but not same and one forum mentioned about removing the battery and start the machine AC power - Let me tell you, It doesn't work for me.

This is the message on the blue screen :

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Techincal information:

***STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x82FD89F8, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000) "

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please help me to save my laptop...! I have soo much of data that I can't risk losing them.

Ashan.

Configuration: Windows XP SP2
Internet Explorer 7.0
Firefox 3.0

The Windows program is too damaged to start. This could be a software problem or a hardware problem. If your stored data is important then you should copy it to another computer. This can be done by removing the hard drive and using a USB adapter to connect it to another computer. This might best be done by a repair shop.

Coping the data is the first thing you should do. Do not attempt to reformat or reload the system before you have the data backed up. Good Luck

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

then it talks about the bios memory or something.
i am not sure what to do. i have mcafee antivirus software.. can you tell me what happened? you told the other person it was too damaged to start but i dont think i did anything to damage the computer. what do i do to fix this?
