Ok hopefully someone could help me out. I recently placedwhen the computer boots up, i need to place a security password to enusre i want the computer to boot up in the main set up in the boot up part of my computer, a password to login to it before the computer even boots up. I have forgotten that password and have tried everything i could have placed in it. now i try to hit F2 or F12 and it doe not work at all to get into even the boot up menus. Can someone please help me and explain to me a way to change it and get into the computer?

There is a small button style battery that powers the CMOS functions on the PC - things like date and time and the memory of the hardware devices that are attached to the PC. The battery is located on the motherboard - mounted either vertically or horizontally to the board. Removing this battery, for 30 secs to a minute, will normally erase the CMOS memory. If you have used a boot-up password that is CMOS (or BIOS) based - removing the battery will delete the password.
