Depends what version of Linux you're running. If you're running Ubuntu, download the .deb package. If it's Cent OS, you'll need the .rpm package. Otherwise, you can use the .tar file and install it yourself although that's much more in depth.

Thanks for that, i know this will sound stupid but that went right over my head, i'm not a tech girl at all, here is what i have its a Acer Aspire One A150L Blue N270 1GB 120GB 8.9" Net Book linpus/ linux lite version. not tried to download skpye yet because not sure which version to choose, sorry i'm hopeless

Unfortunately, using the Fedora7 package isn't the magical answer and with no information regarding what version of Linux is being used, your instructions are grossly misleading for Linux beginners. Skype Inc. does not support or maintain the various distributions of Linux very well, so there may be a bit of trial-and-error if you aren't using the /specific/ distribution and version they state on the site. I have had the best "luck" with the Static binary. Although, it does /not/ work with Fedora 11 due to compatibility issues with the new pulseaudio back-end. Skype uses ALSA as it's back end, fails to gracefully bind to pulseaudio, and subsequently sucks up 100% of your CPU time.
