HOW TO CONNECT 2 PC WITHOUT USING IPADDRESS

Hello,
i want to connect two pc using a LAN cable.and from one pc i need to access the files stored on the other pc.but i should achieve this without the usage of IPADDRESS.please tell me if there is any way to do this.

Configuration: Linux Red Hat
Firefox 1.5.0.9

Personally i do not think it is possible to connect 2 PC on a lan without using IP address. How the PC will be indentified on the network then? ..

When we establish a physical connection between the two pc such as a LAN cable or cross cable,then is it possible to access the files stored on each other remotely?and if that is also not possible,then can i use a third pc and mount a file system such as NFS in that PC and connect these two pc with that one.and that file system will be common to these two pc.tell me if we use this way,then can we acess the files stored on one pc from other pc without using ipaddress?

Use a cross over cable then it doesnt read it as a ip but it needs configuarting to do so!

Go to network connection in control panel. Then select "Set up a Home or small office network "
Then follow the instructions.Do this procedure simultaniously on both PC's. Workgroup name for both Pc should be same. Then turn on "printer and file sharing". Now finish the procedure. Restart both PC,s. then go in my network places. Select "View workgroup computers" then LAN connection is made for file sharing...................

I think u need to one extra lan card to solve the solution.. just put the 2 lan card to onw system and connect the other on from it u ..get the result.

All you need is to download a program calle Synergy and you can controll all 3 pc's with one mouse and one keybord, if you want remote controll from another network all you need is www.logmein.com and that should due it.

Hello friends i hv a solution regarding this matter no need to assign an ip address two system can automatically allotted their ip address and just connect a Ethernet wire in between two system then go to your My network Places then click on view work group computer then you will see all your system and another system.
