ITunes Version 8

Hello,
I am trying to download I Tunes version 8 so I can use my new Nano. It all downloads no problems but just before the installation completes I get this error message Could not open key, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Apple Computer Inc.\ITunes. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel. I have full Administrator rights. I have tried logging on as Administrator but I still get the same message. Can anyone help me please, Apple software is a nightmare!!!
